2005 marked the first year of the Second Life Community Convention. It was held at New York Law School in New York City, October 8 and 9, immediately following the State of Play III conference.
The convention drew over 150 attendees from around the globe, including staff from mixed reality event, a concept co-created by Ronald Blechner of Out of Bounds and Jerry Paffendorf, and supported by the rest of the SLCC organizing staff.

Out of Bounds was co-creator, organizer and a bronze level sponsor of the event as a whole. Out of Bounds also designed, organized, terraformed, and managed the creation of the in-world SLCC build that spanned 64 virtual acres of land.

With the invaluable assistance of over two dozen volunteers and sponsors, the in-world SLCC arose as a fun immersive environment for people who could not make the convention in person to come and participate.

Out of Bounds also designed and built the infastructure for the sim, as well as the interior of the New York Law School build, a recreation of the space that the real-world convention took place in. In essence, attendees in the real law school were able to see on a video screen in-world attentees in the virtual law school. At the same time, the in-world attendees could watch a live streaming video of what was happening at the real convention.
